A rage-inducing action-adventure puzzler with a twist

Devolver Digital is back with yet another mind-boggling indie game that will probably absolutely blow our minds – Disc Room. Although some of you might have guessed that this is a puzzler (it says in the subtitles too), Disc Room is so much more than that.

But first let's mention that Disc Room is a collaboration between developers Jan Willem Nijman & Kitty Calis (Minit), Terri Vellmann, and Doseone (HIGH HELL). It's also worth adding that Disc Room is described as “an ultra-stylish expedition into the depths of an alien deathtrap.”

The game doesn't have a launch date yet, but the release window is 2020. We have also yet to learn on which platforms it will be available, although we can safely assume it will come to PC, so it remains to be seen whether or not it lands on consoles as well.

Anyway, the gameplay does seem rather simplistic, but there's actually a deep story behind that. The year is 2089, and a giant disc has appeared in orbit of Jupiter. A crew of international scientists is formed in a desperate attempt to understand the mysterious secrets contained within.

You will step into the shoes of a scientist in an oversized space suit who has been designated to explore this giant disc, which proves to be a sprawling slaughterhouse. You will have to discover the method behind all the madness happening inside the disc while trying to avoid being sliced in half by murderous discs, which seem to be intelligent.

As you overcome all intelligent saw blades in a room, you'll find out that the disc is an endless labyrinth of interconnected death chambers. Your skills and reflexes will be put to the test, so stay sharp to successfully navigate the murderous maze

As for those less skillful, the game features an interesting mechanic the allows your character to absorb extraordinary abilities from the discs that kill them. Abilities like invincible dash, bend time, clone yourself are meant to make the game slightly easier.

Disc Room definitely gives me some creepy Cube vibes, but in a good way. If you're a Minit fan or simply like the concept, stay tuned for more info on its release.
