Video game developer DICE and publisher Electronic Arts have extensive support plans for Star Wars Battlefront, but they are not interested and able to deliver any kind of content linked to the recently launched Star Wars: The Force Awakens, despite frequent requests from the fan community.

A recent Twitter message from the official account makes this position clear, but it also offer some tantalizing prospects for the future of the series and the way it will incorporate new experiences.

DICE suggests that the current version of the Battlefront franchise will continue to focus on the original trilogy of movies, but the studio also uses language that shows that a future installment might introduce The Force Awakens environments and heroes.

All gamers who picked up the shooter can get the Battle of Jakku downloadable content for free, enjoying two maps that are set on the planet a few decades before the events of the movie, with a focus on how the landscape dominated by a Super Star Destroyer was created.

Electronic Arts has already shown in financial documents that it plans to launch more Battlefront titles, although it is unclear whether the franchise will be annualized or whether it will give studios more time to create new gameplay mechanics.

The publisher has also admitted that its current release is aimed at newcomers, hoping to capitalize on the launch of the new movie to introduce more fans to the series, but future titles might offer more depth.

There are also no plans to add pure space battle to the game in addition to the already offered atmospheric engagements.

Star Wars Battlefront will get four major DLC packs

Battle of Jakku was free, but the coming extra content for the team-based shooter will be provided only to those willing to pay, with a Season Pass offered for gamers who want to get access to it two weeks early and also want a Han Solo-themed emote.

The four packs will introduce 4 new heroes and villains, although their identities have not yet been revealed, and there are also 16 new maps set on the four planets that are already featured in the shooter, with 4 innovative modes also planned.

DICE is also promising access to introduce more items, weapons, vehicles and Star Cards in order to give players more options to customize their characters and improve their experience on the Battlefront.

Based on player feedback, the studio is also planning to improve gameplay via updates, and some new free Star Cards will also be free, although it's unclear when they might be launched.

Star Wars Battlefront is one of the most important titles that Electronic Arts offered in 2015, and the company has exclusive deals to create other games based on the franchise, one of which is in development at BioWare and might be officially revealed in 2016.

Amy Hennig is also creating a title linked to Star Wars, which might be inspired at least in part by the 1313 title that was in development at Disney and has since been canceled.
