Gamers will be able to learn new moves for Faith

The coming Mirror's Edge Catalyst is designed to offer gamers access to just a limited set of movement skills at the start of the game, with players asked to get access to experience in order to move up through a progression tree in order to get access to the entire arsenal that they could use in the first title in the franchise.

Some fans are unhappy with DICE's decision because they feel it will make moving through the city of Glass less interesting until they manage to get all their skills, but Jeremy Miller, a senior producer at the studio, says that the decision will create a more varied experience and will make each mission unique.

He adds to Gamespot, "We’ve got a different control scheme. It’s a little more intuitive and fluid. Part of having this progression in there is to allow you to be able to master your tools, and to give you a little bit of breathing room so you feel confident and excited about what you can do."

The fact that quick turn is not offered in Mirror's Edge Catalyst right away means that gamers will use it more and discover what it can do when they finally get access to it.

Faith will rely more on momentum in the new game

DICE is planning to run a beta for Mirror's Edge Catalyst starting on April 22 and will allow gamers who get in to experience some single-player missions for five days and to engage with the social play aspect of the title.

Main character Faith starts off getting released from prison and soon becomes a runner yet again, moving across Glass to complete mysterious missions and do her part in the faith against the Conglomerate that dominates the city.

Momentum is more important than in the first title in the series, and players will no longer be able to use guns, which means they need to rely on speed and solid environment knowledge to get away from guardians.

DICE wants players to stay on the move to remain safe, but the melee system associated with the video game has been improved to give them more options when they need to get up close and personal with an opponent.

Mirror's Edge Catalyst will get a full release on May 24 in the United States and on May 26 in Europe and can be played on the PC, the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4.
