Originally launched 14 years ago, Devil May Cry 3 didn't get the remake/remaster treatment yet, but that didn't prevent critics and players alike to praise it as one of the greatest games of all time. Due to the balancing issues for the US version of the game, Capcom decided to re-released the game one year later as Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition.

Currently, the game is available on six different platforms: PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and Windows PC. Starting next year, an additional platform will join the list of consoles that will allow players to enjoy Capcom's Devil May Cry 3 Special Edition – Nintendo Switch.

Capcom has just announced that Devil May Cry 3 Special Edition will be available for digital download on the Nintendo Switch console on February 20, 2020. Just like the PC, PS4 and Xbox One version, the Switch game will cost $20 / €20 / £16.

The Special Edition of the game introduces Vergil as a playable character and the 9,999 floors of the Bloody Palace survival mode. Devil May Cry 3 is also the first game in the series that lets players switch between currently equipped weapons on the fly.

Story-wise, Devil May Cry 3 is a prequel to the series, and present a younger version of Dante. Think of it as an origin story that explores the journey leading up to and culminating in Dante's face-off against his twin brother, Vergil, who is set on unlocking a gate to the demonic realm.

Armed with his famous sword, Rebellion, and dual pistols Ebony and Ivory, Dante must stop Vergil and prevent the world from being overrun by demons. Those who didn't play the first two games can now buy Devil May Cry and Devil May Cry 2 on Nintendo Switch for MSRP $19.99 / £15.00 / €19.99 each.
