Destiny developer Bungie reveals some pretty interesting details and screenshots with the massive Dreadnaught ship, the main area in the upcoming The Taken King expansion. What's more, it also shows off one of the new bosses players will have to take on in their search for epic rewards in the online title.

Destiny launched back in September of last year, and while it certainly didn't impress all those who got it, there's a big and passionate community around the multiplayer shooter. While the game, which has received many free updates and premium expansions since then, is still interesting, a lot of fans are looking forward to The Taken King, the next major add-on that debuts in September.

The Taken King brings the sprawling Dreadnaught environment

Bungie has already shared plenty of information in recent times, but now, on its blog, it shows off the big Dreadnaught area, which is the main staging ground for The Taken King.

As you can see in the screenshots below, the sprawling area is comprised of different sections of the ship that's employed by the actual Taken King. In the backgrounds, fans can also admire the rings of Saturn, as they'll get to infiltrate the ship while it's closing in on Earth.

According to the studio's designers, players will encounter not only sprawling, open spaces but also more claustrophobic zones that are cramped and ripe for ambushes.

Besides admiring the design, fans will also be able to find all sorts of secret areas filled not just with great rewards but also plenty of imposing challenges and enemies.

Speaking of enemies, the studio also shows off a render for Darkblade, the menacing boss of a Strike that's coming to Destiny via The Taken King in September.

Players will be able to admire the Dreadnaught, as well as its many dangers, as part of special live streams that will take place as we get closer to the September 15 debut of The Taken King. More information is also coming next week, straight from Gamescom 2015, where Bungie will showcase the expansion.
