Bungie emphasizes that the content in the upcoming The Taken King expansion more than doubles the offerings of the game's first add-on, The Dark Below. From the story missions to the new strikes, raids, and much more, the studio is confident that fans will have lots of things to enjoy next month, when it launches.

Destiny came out back in September of last year, and besides different updates and patches, Bungie has released two premium expansions, in the form of The Dark Below and House of Wolves. While both add-ons were priced at $20/€20 each, the upcoming The Taken King DLC costs a whopping $40/€40 and requires players to own the two previous expansions.

As you can imagine, this didn't sit well with fans, many of whom were quite upset by the exorbitant prices and demands from Bungie.

The Taken King brings plenty of content that's worth the investment

While speaking with IGN, Bungie once again emphasizes just how much content is included in The Taken King, from its story missions to the strikes, raids, or competitive Crucible maps. The studio even goes so far as to say that the new expansion offers twice the content seen in The Dark Below, the first expansion for the game.

"I don't have any trouble saying that The Taken King is well more than twice as much content as the Dark Below," Bungie's Eric Osborne explains. "The story's great, there's seven Crucible multiplayer maps, there's three brand-new Strikes, and they're the best Strikes we've delivered to date. We've got the Dreadnaught, which is not just a big new destination to explore, it's really deep and layered."

Bungie has already explained that The Taken King brings the biggest raid it's ever done, in the form of King's Fall, and fans will be able to find all sorts of hidden surprises throughout the content in the expansion.

As such, come September 15, the studio expects plenty of Destiny players to get the expansion across PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, or Xbox One.
