A huge number of new details about the upcoming Destiny: The Taken King expansion as well as all the free Year 2 changes that will be made to the multiplayer shooter by developer Bungie have been revealed. These range from massive, like changing the level cap to 40, to other tweaks, like how Peter Dinklage is being replaced by Nolan North as the voice of Ghost.

Destiny launched back in September of last year, and since then, developer Bungie has made all sorts of changes to the game through free updates and patches, not to mention the two premium expansions, in the form of The Dark Below and House of Wolves.

The third and biggest add-on yet, The Taken King, is gearing up for a September 15 debut, and Bungie has already confirmed some of the huge changes included in the paid expansion as well as its free updates that will be available for all players.

Destiny is getting major changes for its second year

Now, as part of a feature in GameInformer, via Reddit, all sorts of new changes have been confirmed for Destiny once The Taken King and its accompanying update launch worldwide next month.

Some changes are quite important, like the level cap that will be raised to 40, while others deal with the Cryptarch that should give better rewards depending on the engram type you have.

Ghost, the friendly AI companion, is getting a complete overhaul in terms of voice, as veteran actor Nolan North (Uncharted's Nathan Drake) is replacing Peter Dinklage (Game of Thrones' Tyrion). He will not only bring Ghost to life in the DLC but will also dub over the existing voice work. Ghost can scan objects for more insight into enemies, factions, objects, and more.

The NPCs in the Tower zone have been retooled to offer quests, story and insight into the world as players level up their Guardians, while the Gunsmith features a Rep score that directly ties into players getting prototype weapons to test in the field.

Players won't need to wear a class item when leveling up for the different factions, while the Shader system has also been refined for better usability.

Last but not least, The Taken King's endgame is going to explore previous endgame content like Vault of Glass and will continue to offer insight after finishing the story missions.

Expect to hear much more from Bungie in the following days.
