Gamers will get a new matchmaking system

After a relatively long wait that was caused by the Nightstalker bug, the development team at Bungie confirms that a new installment of the Trials of Osiris event will be back online starting at 10 AM Pacific Time on Friday, October 30.

The new Weekly Update from the studio explains that gamers will see some changes to the experience, with the character level for Guardians set at 40 and a requirement of 251 minimum Light.

The new Trials of Osiris will also feature a new matchmaking system that's supposed to make the mode more competitive, and there are tweaks made to the items that gamers can get from Brother Vance and to the way rewards are offered to those who win matches.

Derek Carroll, a senior designer working on Destiny, states, "With the changes we’ve made to matchmaking, there will be a greater chance that the other team will be on the same rung as the ladder as you, making your climb to 9-0 much more meaningful, and those last few matches much more fun for everyone. Well, almost everyone. Half of everyone?"

The kind of gear that gamers can get from Trials of Osiris is comparable to that offered to those who have taken out new boss Oryx on the hard level of the King's Fall raid.

It will be interesting to see how many players will be drawn to the mode, given its Player versus Player nature and the fact that Bungie is clearly trying to make it more competitive.

Gamers can also enjoy Halloween in Destiny

The special event gives gamers a chance to pick up special emotes from the Eververse Trading Company and to try and get access to masks, which need to be brought to Legendary level if gamers want to use them after November 9.

Presumably, the ongoing festival means that Bungie does not have any plans to launch any other important piece of new content for Destiny before the middle of the coming month.

The studio has explained that the revenue generated when gamers spend real-world money to get the Silver currency will be used to offer more resources to an expanded live team.

Its job is to deliver new missions and quests for the entire community for free, creating a constant stream of new content that can keep even long-term fans engaged with the social shooter.

Destiny will probably never get another major expansion like The Taken King, but fans are hoping that at least one major raid will be added at some point in 2016.

Rumors are saying that the core resources of developer Bungie are at the moment focused on a full sequel, which will use all new technology and will be launched only on the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 in the fall of next year.

The company and Activision will be eager to capitalize on the success of this first installment, but many gamers might be unwilling to move to a whole new title after they invested so much time and money in the current incarnation of the series.
