It's unclear when a new update will be launched

The developers at Bungie are still evaluating the effects that the recently launched The Taken King expansion has had on the Destiny fan community, but it seems that at least one unintended item effect will not be tweaked for the time being.

The new Three of Coins consumable that Xur sells increases the chance for an Exotic engram to drop when the player executes a special kill, and gamers have been using it to abuse lesser bosses in order to get a lot of them.

The developers are aware of the situation, but they are apparently willing to let the behavior continue for the moment, although it sounds like changes will be made in the future to make sure that more reasonable drop rates are implemented.

On the official forums, Cozmo, a community manager, states, "DeeJ and I were just conferring with the Design Team about how Three of Coins is performing in the wild. They are aware that the drop rates are too damn high, but for now this works in your favor. You earned those coins. Have fun spending them. The Nine may be delighted that you’re blowing them all now."

This means that gamers should enjoy the extra Exotic engrams before a new update for Destiny is delivered.

The shooter is entering its second year of life with big changes

The Taken King arrived on September 15 and added a range of new strikes for gamers to take part in and one major raid, King's Fall, which is centered on Oryx, the most powerful boss introduced in the social shooter.

Guardians have more weapons and equipment to use as players seek to hit the increased level cap, and there are other end-game activities to take part in.

Bungie has not said when it plans to introduce a new update for Destiny, but it might take some time to gather all the data required to decide which mechanics need tweaking.

Recently, the development team has denied that it has a ten-year plan for the video game and said that it is only focuses on delivering the best possible gameplay experience for the fan base.

In one year, Destiny received three expansions, which means that another one will probably be revealed later in the year and will launch in early 2016.
