Video game developer Bungie has been busy implementing both a major update, labeled 2.02, and a quick hotfix, called 2.0.2.1, for Destiny, but the studio still has time to think about the future and to talk about a major new feature that will be implemented for the social shooter next week.

On Monday, November 23, gamers will be able to use a Refer-a-Friend system to join forces with a new gamer, giving them guidance as they explore the strikes, raids and PvP activities that the title has to offer.

Those who are currently playing Destiny are considered the Veterans of the relationship while newcomers will take on the role of the Referrals, with full information set to be offered soon via a new page on the official site.

So far, Bungie explains, "The Holiday season is rolling in like a cold-weather front. With it, many Kinderguardians will join us in the Tower to find shelter from the cold of winter – and, just maybe, the friendship needed to survive a Quest. Take one under your mighty wing of Light and we’ll reward your mentorship."

The pair will presumably be able to progress through the game faster, with experience and loot boosts for the junior partner and another type of rewards for the Veterans who help them.

The development team also says that the company is looking for reports about gamers who might break the rules in either Iron Banner or Trials of Osiris because it aims to eliminate as many cheaters from the title in the coming weeks as possible.

The company is not yet offering any information about the events it is planning for the holiday season, although some details about them are included in the files associated with update 2.02.

Destiny will focus on weapons during December

Bungie is already also offering information about a December update for Destiny, which will be focused mostly on the improvement of balance for all weapon types.

There are plenty of details for those who want to understand all the tweaks that are coming to plan how to prepare their Guardians for top performance in both Player versus Environment and Player versus Player modes.

The company says that it will make auto rifles more versatile while convincing more members of the player base that pulse rifles should not dominate gameplay.

Some new exotic weapons are also coming to Destiny, with two of them designed to be available only to those who are playing The Taken King version of the game.

Those who only have the base game will be able to get access to upgraded versions of more familiar items that are now capable of delivering the same level of power and light.

Bungie has not talked about any new quests and missions that will be linked to the new exotics yet, but it says that the current ways of obtaining exotics will still work.

Gamers are also expecting to get access to more emotes via the Eververse Trading Company in time for Christmas, all of them purchasable using real-world money.
