The company chose to create a serious universe

When Destiny was first introduced in late 20145 one of the major criticisms of the title was that it failed to offer an engaging narrative and engaging characters, despite the obvious potential of the video game universe created by Bungie.

Apparently the social shooter could have also been much funnier than it is at the moment, according to comedians David Cross and Brian Posehn, who have both starred in and created some very successful shows and stand-ups over the year.

The pair tells IGN that they were actually invited to the headquarters of Bungie to actually write some jokes for Destiny, focusing on the Ghost character and the way he could be used to add some humor to the player experience.

Cross states, "“They did not use a single, solitary thing that we wrote, which is a shame because we wrote some stuff that – you know, we’re gamers, and they… – I would imagine somebody somewhere said, 'we can’t inject this levity or humour into it'."

The comedian also believes that in current state Destiny is too serious and fails to account for the fact that some funny content could break the monotony of the end-game.

Bungie will focus on serious action in The Taken King

The next expansion for Destiny is being described as a new game in many ways, but the very serious tone of the shooter will apparently remain unchanged.

Gamers will have to deal with a new threat to the solar system, Oryx, and the backstory says that the boss is returning to take out those who have harmed his son, Crota.

Bungie will focus on a new big area, the dreadnought, which gamers will be able to explore and the Taken enemies that will populate it.

The studio wants gamers to face a real threat and is also aiming to offer them a broader than ever selection of weapons and items to equip their Guardians with.

The new subclasses are also added in The Taken King and the level cap for all characters is getting an increase.

All the strikes that were exclusive for PlayStation gamers until now will also be opened up to the entire community.

The Taken King for Destiny will be available on September 15 on all platforms on which the shooter is available.
