Samsung and the CPSC officially announced the second recall of the South Korean company’s latest flagship, the Galaxy Note 7. Only two months have passed since it was announced and it seems that the smartphone was recalled two times already.

Samsung has given up on the Galaxy Note 7, as the company has announced that it will no longer produce the phone and prompted all Note 7 owners to return their smartphones for a full refund or another smartphone.

The device maker has increased production of its other flagships, the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge. A report by Digitimes shows that demand for the two smartphones has risen since Samsung announced that it would stop producing the Note 7.

90% of customers who return the smartphone opt for the S7 edge

Samsung Electronics Taiwan offers Note 7 owners a full refund or the option to exchange their smartphones for another Samsung device, the Galaxy S7 edge or Note 5. The report mentions that 90% of customers who return the Note 7 have opted for the Samsung S7 edge, as opposed to a full refund. Retailers reported that the trend has depleted their inventory of the Galaxy S7 edge and companies are now waiting for Samsung to send new shipments.

Samsung Thailand has announced that it will be offering customers who pre-ordered the Note 7 a discount voucher of approximately $287, which can be used for purchasing a smartphone from the Galaxy S7 line or the Note 5. The company is also offering a pair of Level Active headphones, valued at $86.

The compensation program starts October 21 and ends on November 31 in Thailand. Samsung offers different amounts of financial compensations, depending on the country. Galaxy Note 7 owners in the US receive $100 bill credit.

Samsung is also rumored to launch a Blue Coral variant of the Galaxy S7 edge, which means that the company will be relying on sales of this smartphone in order to compensate for missed sales of the Note 7.
