"We are pleased to announce the availability of UCS 4.0-5 for download, the fifth point release of Univention Corporate Server (UCS) 4.0. It includes all errata and security updates issued for UCS 4.0-4 and provides various improvements and bugfixes especially in the areas of Active Directory compatibility and the UCS management system," reads the announcement.

Here's what's new in Univention Corporate Server 4.0-5

Univention Corporate Server 4.0-5 comes with a new Linux kernel package, version 3.16.7-ckt20, which includes multiple security and stability patches, a new Nagios plugin that promises to let users check the state of the Univention S4 connector, which synchronizes groups or users between the OpenLDAP directory service and Active Directory.

There are also various performance improvements to the directory service replication functionality, which should now let users connect faster to large AD domains with several thousand users, the built-in mail server received some much-needed updates as well, in particular for issues with setting the permissions of IMAP shared folders and execution of the mail receiver policy.

Many of the core components of UCS 4.0 were updated to their latest versions. These include open-source projects like Samba, OpenSSL, Glibc, NTP, Apache, and sudo. Furthermore, users will now be able to much easier define the kernel of their choice for the next reboot through UCR variables, and synchronization support for printer group policy objects was added to the Univention S4 Connector.

Last but not least, there are now even more configuration options for the built-in proxy server, improving its performance in large environments, and users will finally be able to fine-tune the synchronization of the SYSVOL share, which stores the Active Directory group policies. Univention Corporate Server 4.0 users are urged to update to version 4.0-5 as soon as possible.
