Last week, we reported on the release of the GParted 0.26.0 open-source partition editor software, and now Curtis Gedak informs us about the availability of GParted Live 0.26.0-1.

The main design goal of the Gparted Live project is to offer users a bootable Live ISO image that incorporates the latest GParted release, allowing them to do various disk partitioning tasks and take advantage of the latest GNU/Linux technologies, which are injected in both the GParted Live and GParted projects.

We've been asked by several of our readers when a new version of GParted Live will hit the streets. So there you have it, GParted Live 0.26.0-1 is here, bringing you the brand new GParted 0.26.0 release, which implements read-only LUKS support, along with progress bars for the NTFS, XFS, EXT2, EXT3, and EXT4 file system copy methods.

"This release includes GParted 0.26.0, patches for libparted for FAT file system operations, and other improvements," said Curtis Gedak in the announcement. "This release of GParted Live has been successfully tested on VirtualBox, VMWare, BIOS, UEFI, and physical computers with AMD/ATI, NVidia, and Intel graphics."

Powered by Linux kernel 4.5.1

But GParted 0.26.0 is not the only new feature of the GParted Live 0.26.0-1 release, which is now powered by Linux kernel 4.5.1 and includes the latest security patches and core components from the Debian GNU/Linux Sid software repositories, with which it was synchronized as of April 29, 2016.

Additionally, the GParted Live 0.26.0-1 Live CD comes with a patched version of the libparted library, fixing crashes that occurred when checking FAT32 filesystems while also improving the recognition of resized FAT32 partitions on Microsoft Windows operating systems.

Last but not least, the ALT+F5 keyboard shortcut was disabled to avoid killing program accidentally, and CA certificates were added to the Netsurf web browser. Download GParted Live 0.26.0-1 right now via our website, from where you can also download the GParted 0.26.0 software.
