Bohemia Interactive has just announced DayZ will be getting its first official DLC, and the second official map – Livonia. The new map is based on the recently released map from the Arma 3 Contact spin-off expansion and promises to bring a new gameplay experience to the post-apocalyptic world of DayZ.

There are no less than 163km2 of lush green landscapes, dense forestry, serene lakes, and winding rivers in Livonia. Oh, and lots of bears. Of course, it would not be much of a deal if the new DLC would only include a map, so Livonia won’t be the only change of pace for DayZ players.

Since this is a hardcore survival game, developer Bohemia Interactive thought it would be suitable to add a specific climate with the new map. The temperate late summer climate of Livonia will bring frequent rainfall and thunderstorms while providing players with additional environmental challenges during their travels, as well as making protective gear and shelter more important than ever.

As mentioned earlier, there's new wilderness as well, most prominently, a new predator is roaming the forests of Livonia – bears. DayZ players will have to be well-equipped to effectively deal with these grizzly foes.

But that's not all, as developers announced the new 1.06 update, which will be deployed at the same time with the new map will be premium DLC, will bring hundreds of new assets for the community to make use of, which will be available to everyone for free without the purchase of the Livonia map.

And since the game is already available on all platforms except Nintendo Switch, the Livonia map will release for PC, PS4, and Xbox One very soon.

If you haven't played DayZ yet, it's worth mentioning that this hardcore survival game puts up to 60 survivors on a server in a completely unscripted gameplay scenario with no goals given, except for one: to survive as long as they can, by all means necessary. If you die in DayZ, you lose all your character progress and start over, as the game features a permadeath concept.
