Steamforged Games is confirming that the fan community has pledged enough money to its Dark Souls boardgame project on Kickstarter to reach yet another stretch goal and to continue breaking records when it comes to crowdfunding in the field.

The title based on the popular video game franchise has managed to get 950,000 British Pounds, which is more than 1 million dollars or Euro, and with 25 extra days for the game to get the game, creators will have to introduce some more extra content to keep up with the speed at which money is coming to their game.

The Dark Souls tabletop game features both miniatures and cards based on the video game, with one to four players able to engage with it at the same time, exploring a world that's filled with enemies and features some tough boss fights.

The Knight, Herald, Assassin and Warrior are featured as playable characters and the developers at Steamforged Games are saying that exploration and the bonfire mechanics will work similarly to how they do in the video game franchise.

They also promise complex combat mechanics that ask gamers to learn enemy behavior in order to take out opponents and collect the rewards they carry.

The game does not currently have a clear launch date, but the Kickstarter project makes it easy for players to pledge at just one level and get a wide range of extra rewards based on the community contribution.

Dark Souls 3 is now offered all over the world

The boardgame is an interesting project that will probably appeal to the most dedicated of fans but the best way to experience the series, with the most recent installment offered on the PC, the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4.

The game has some tough boss fights and great character development, although it still needs a little patching to eliminate some crashes and performance issues.

The team at From Software has said that it does not plan to create more other titles in the franchise, but that it is working on a two downloadable content packs for Dark Souls 3, the first of which is set to be offered in the fall of this year.

It is entirely possible that the legacy of the universe will be carried forward by the boardgame for a while, with the official support of publisher Bandai Namco.
