The game still needs another major update

Video game developer From Software and publisher Bandai Namco are announcing that Dark Souls 3 is the fastest-selling video game they have ever created and has the most successful launch day, internationally, in the history of the two companies.

Neither of the two is ready to mention actual numbers, but sales all over the world have been incredibly strong and they seem to be holding solid during the second week on the market.

Dark Souls 3 was first offered on the Xbox One and on the PlayStation 4 in Japan starting on March 24, presumably because of constraints linked to getting the title out during the 2016 fiscal year.

In the West and on the PC, the new From Software experience arrived on April 12 and quickly moved to the top of the United Kingdom chart, where it has now resided for a second week, and signs seem to point to it dominating the United States sales chart that the NPD Group will compile for April.

The development team has recently delivered a new 1.04 patch for Dark Souls 3, which is designed to better balance the title and to introduce some unspecified bug fixes.

The player community has been generally happy with the experience offered, but on the PC there are still some issues with stability and with overall performance that need to be addressed as quickly as possible to keep the community happy.

Dark Souls 3 will get a first downloadable content pack in the fall

From Software has said that this title is the last one in the universe that has captivated the attention of gamers and that it is looking forward to exploring new ideas that have not yet been detailed.

But Bandai Namco is keen to build on the solid success of Dark Souls 3 by delivering two downloadable content packs for the title, the first of which is set to arrive in the fall and will be expansive in terms of scope.

From Software is not saying how it will challenge gamers or what kind of story it plans to tell with the DLC, which is covered by a Season Pass.

Until then the studio will certainly use patches to eliminate any issues that gamers find and to tweak the difficulty level.

Gamers can get more details about the mechanics of the title and the way it uses its lore from the Softpedia review of Dark Souls 3.
