Evil West, the game developed by Polish studio Flying Wild Hog, the same team behind Shadow Warrior 3, finally received a release date. Unveiled two years ago at The Game Awards, Evil West will be launched for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC on September 20, publisher Focus Entertainment announced today.

The dark fantasy, Weird Wild West, third-person action game from Focus Entertainment and Flying Wild Hog, promises to offer players third-person action gameplay featuring an overpowering arsenal of weapons and guns.

The gameplay trailer released this week gives us a glimpse of what’s to come. In Evil West, players take the role of gunslinger Jesse Rentier on his mission to eradicate the supernatural terror. At first glance, this feels like a mix of Van Helsing and Remnant: From the Ashes.

As one of the last agents in a top-secret vampire-hunting institute, Jesse is the final line between humanity and a deep-rooted terror that now emerges from the shadows. It’s your job to rise to become a Wild West Superhero, eradicate the vampire threat and, ultimately, save the United States.

There’s a lot to take in from the recently released trailer, but the bottom line is that the game will certainly feature visceral, explosive combat. On top of that, players can kill monsters as a lone hunter or in co-op with a friend.

More importantly, the game will feature a narrative-driven campaign, which can be explored while upgrading weapons and hunting tools. There will also be a lot of perks to unlock to evolve your mastery of monster-slaying.

Evil West seems like a lot of fun, although if you’re interested in the story aspect, don’t get your hopes too high. Wild Flying Hog’s most recent game, Shadow Warrior 3, was a major disappointment from a narrative standpoint.
