Event Horizon's Dark Envoy is getting its first gameplay trailer to show players a taste of what horrors they'll be facing in the upcoming non-linear RPG. Inspired by the games like Divinity, XCOM, Mass Effect, and Dragon Age, Dark Envoy lets players freely explore a world engulfed in a war between Dark Technology and Magic, where neither side is good and just.

Using a Skyship as a base of operation and main means of transport, players will hunt for mythical locations and procedurally generated dungeons with optional tactical objectives. To make things even more interesting, the world maps will adjust with the passing of in-game time, so you'll have to choose wisely where to travel first.

Since this is a non-linear RPG, many players choices will impact the world, as the stories that unfold will lead to multiple endings that should eventually reflect the characters' personalities and decisions.

There will be 15 unique classes in the game, with the ability to mix skill trees, including some rare classes which can only be found in certain locations or locked behind quests. The game can be played solo, two-player co-op, as well as a new mode called Player vs World where Player 2 acts as the final boss seeking to destroy Player 1 before they become too powerful.

As far as the story goes, Dark Envoy is co-written by Michael Chatfield, an Amazon top 100 science fiction/fantasy writer, so there's no reason not to have high hopes about this aspect as well.

The first gameplay trailer of Dark Envoy shows how the game handles tactical combat and some of the characters. The bad news is we're not going to get our hands on this one too soon, as developer Event Horizon announced Dark Envoy is coming to PC, PS4, and Xbox One in late 2020.
