14 DAY TRIAL // Polish studio CD Projekt Red, the team behind the huge The Witcher saga, confirms that its next project, the long-awaited Cyberpunk 2077, is even bigger than all of its previous games, including the sprawling The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
CD Projekt Red started out as a budding independent developer in Poland, and thanks to the complex The Witcher universe, it's managed to deliver three great role-playing games that evolved with each installment.
After delighting fans with The Witcher 3, the studio is now starting to focus on Cyberpunk 2077, its sci-fi role-playing game that's based on the old pen-and-paper experience.
Cyberpunk 2077 is bigger than The Witcher and its predecessors
Not much is known about the upcoming project but it seems that at least some of the developers are able to share a few more things concerning the future RPG.
This time, Visual Effects Artist Jose Teixeira explains to MCV that Cyberpunk 2077 will be an even bigger role-playing experience than The Witcher 3. The medieval fantasy RPG offered a huge amount of content that could take over 100 hours to complete.
Cyberpunk 2077 is looking set to be even bigger and, according to Teixeira, even better than the previous game, thanks to the knowledge accumulated by the whole team.
"Cyberpunk is far bigger than anything else that CD Projekt Red has done before," he says. "Far, far bigger. We're really stepping into the unknown in terms of complexity and size and problems we encounter. The Witcher helped Cyberpunk quite a bit, because the game got so big and so complex that it really taught us. We really didn't know what was going to happen. If anything, working on The Witcher 3 was a really good and often brutal learning experience. Cyberpunk is going to benefit greatly from it."
Cyberpunk 2077 is expected to debut either at the end of 2016 or during 2017. Considering CD Projekt Red is still working on two big expansions for The Witcher 3, don't expect to hear any big details about Cyberpunk 2077 anytime soon.
