Finally, some details after years of silence

The Cyberpunk 2077 E3 trailer has arrived, and it managed to get everyone excited about the game one more time.

Gamers will remember that the game was announced all the way back in 2012, and the now famous teaser trailer for Cyberpunk 2077 was made available in January 2013. It’s been a long time since then, but the studio has been keeping itself busy.

From what the developers are telling us, they started to work on it after they were done with the DLCs for The Witcher 3. A release window wasn’t announced, but it looks like it’s going to be a while. At least now, we have something to see and speculate on.

A single player RPG

It would have been weird for CD Projekt Red to start making other types of games than RPGs. On the other hand, they will eventually move to different genres. In the meantime, Cyberpunk 2077 is a single player RPG, although it’s going to feature cars, races, and all sorts of tropes that are usually reserved to other genres.

The developer also chose to place some text at the end of the trailer, which flashes very briefly. Long story short, they don’t have a launch date, but they do have something to show, which will happen at E3, behind closed doors.

The game will get full character creation, a feature that was out of place in The Witcher franchise, it won’t have any sort of micro-transactions, and it’s going to be DRM-free on the PC.

Since the team is still putting the game together, it’s going to be at least another year, if not more, until we’ll get something concrete, but the meantime we’ll have to settle with the content offered by the studio. More details about going to start pouring tomorrow, after the official presentation at E3.
