The rest of the changes made with the Winter update stay

The developers of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive have reversed a couple of the changes made to the game with the Winter update after the community reacted badly.

Most of the changes made to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive usually go smoothly, but it turns out that the Winter update had a couple of changes that got people upset. CS: GO is also used in eSports, so when developers make a modification, it will get noticed.

It's also worth noting that Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is one of the most played games on Steam, at any given time. This means that developers have a really huge test group that will notice any major modification in minutes. In the case of the Winter update, it was only a small "improvement," but people started to complain almost immediately.

Players like to fire from the hip

Valve collects a lot of internal data about Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and they observed the fact that a lot of people terminate their enemies while spraying and not while aiming. They figured that they could adjust the accuracy of the spray just a little bit to make things more interesting. That happened for sure, but not in a good way.

"Unfortunately, our implementation failed in a few ways. For one thing, increasing inaccuracy while spraying also comes with reduced accuracy for all forms of firing. Proportionally, spraying was the most impacted, but we underestimated the impact that the change would have on players who were already firing in shorter bursts," developers wrote on the official blog.

The developers had only one choice in the matter. Both the rifle and pistol adjustments that were made are going to be reversed to their pre-Winter Update state. They also said that they need to be more careful in the future with these updates and better the way they are communicated to the public.
