Companies need to assess flaws and train their customers about ransomware
Companies need to assess their vulnerabilities and educate their customers about ransomware and other cybercrimes like phishing.
According to Jacob Younger, director of Bradley University's Cybersecurity Center, one of the strongest ransomware defenses for businesses is to regularly back up data so that data encrypted by ransomware can be deleted and restored.
He also helped companies conduct desk exercises such as penetration assessments, in which hackers attempt to penetrate the system to look for potential flaws.
