For the first time in 7 years, Criss Angel has canceled a show because of a serious family crisis. The magician is headlining at the Luxor in Las Vegas, but all shows through November 1 are canceled so he can fly to Australia to spend time with his son.

This is also the first time Angel addresses and confirms long-standing reports he has a son. His name is Johnny Crisstopher Sarantakos and he is 20 months old. He’s also been diagnosed with Leukemia, the Las Vegas Sun informs.

Angel’s family crisis

As you can see from the tweets below, the magician informed his fans on social media that a family crisis forced him to postpone events scheduled in advance. He also included a photo of himself and Johnny riding in the back of a car, together with a sweet message of thanks for the outpouring of love and support.

He doesn’t say a thing about the child’s diagnosis, but the aforementioned media outlet does: Johnny was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia upon his return with his mother to Australia.

Further details are not available as of the time of writing.

The report also says that Angel will spend the next few weeks there, while more investigations are being conducted on Johnny. The star and the mother, whose identity is not disclosed, were married last year, but split this summer, presumably because the long-distance relationship proved too difficult to maintain.

A flawless Las Vegas performance

Right now, Criss Angel and his Cirque Du Soleil show BeLIEve, are headlining at the Luxor casino-hotel. This Halloween, Angel would have celebrated 7 years in Vegas without missing a single show.

And he had over 3,000 of them, all well received.

“For many years, Criss has championed and raised money for various children’s charities here in Las Vegas, but he never thought it would hit this close to home,” a Cirque colleague tells the Las Vegas Sun. “This is a very personal family crisis.”

Criss is expected to return to work on November 4.
