New “Rocky” film will be out in theaters this November

Sylvester Stallone is keeping as busy as ever these days, even though he’s no longer as able as he was to pull off complicated physical stunts because of his age. His upcoming film, a new installment in the “Rocky” franchise, “Creed,” will see him tap into his drama acting skills as well.

“Creed” is part a “Rocky” installment, part a spinoff, in that Rocky Balboa is now playing second fiddle to Adonis Johnson, the son of his former rival turned good friend Apollo Creed.

This is Adonis’ story and Rocky will serve as his mentor and motivational speaker in his attempt to discover and affirm himself, separate from his father’s legacy but closely linked to it as well.

Because this is no longer a purely action film like the previous installments, Stallone will also be offered the chance to show off another side of himself as an actor, as the latest trailer (video below) shows. If you imagined the day would never come when you’d see Sly emote (cry), well, you were wrong: it’s here.

Opposite Stallone is Michael B. Jordan as the aspiring boxer and Tessa Thompson as his girlfriend Bianca. “Creed” is directed by Ryan Coogler, off a script he contributed to, and will drop in theaters in November 2015.
