14 DAY TRIAL // Great news for those who are more attached to cooperative rather than competitive games, as publisher Devolver Digital and developer Ronimo Games, the studio behind Awesomenauts, have just announced the upcoming release of Blightbound.
Blightbound is a cooperative dungeon crawler that will come to Steam Early Access sometime this year. There are no plans for a console release yet, but that doesn't mean that we won't see it on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
The game features both online & local multiplayer modes and tasks three heroes to venture down from their mountain refuge to face the abominations of the Blight, a mysterious and corrupting fog that enshrouds the land.
In Blightbound, players will explore handcrafted dungeons, fight monstrous enemies, collect valuable loot, and recover fallen heroes to expand their roster of available warriors. Each player will fulfill a specific role on the team - warrior, assassin, or mage - to overcome boss fights and solve challenging puzzles.
This is an ever-expanding game with new dungeons to explore, new heroes to recover and use, and new loot to retrieve with planned free updates for the community. Apparently, there will be more than 20 unique heroes available to collect in the game, each with their own skillset, passive abilities, and fully narrated story to complete.
Also, players will be able to loot and craft hundreds of unique items to improve each hero and alter their repertoire of attacks and abilities. Also, the game features a base management aspect, as players must build their refuge atop the mountain by recruiting new artisans to craft more items, fulfilling bounties, and training heroes.
Three distinct lands will be available to explore, each with several dungeons to conquer. As mentioned earlier, Blightbound focuses on distinct class roles that reward team play and powerful ultimate abilities that charge from fulfilling your role. Block damage as a warrior, interrupt enemies as an assassin, or heal your allies as a mage.
