The game is set for release in 2020 on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch, but you can already wishlist it on Steam if you want. In Red Wings: Aces of the Sky, you'll become a flying legend of the Great War and pilot warplanes of Entente Powers and the Triple Alliance. Maybe a little bit of history is in order since we're talking about a game that is trying to recreate World War I dogfights.
In the beginning of 1917, Manfred von Richthofen became the leader of the No 11 Fighter Squadron Jasta 11. Under his command, the squadron gained many of the best German pilots of the time. Since the dominant color of the planes in the squadron was red, von Richthofen’s nickname comes from this period: the Red Baron.
In Red Wings: Aces of the Sky you'll be assisting Red Baron, as you witness aerial dogfights. I'd say the game will play very nice using Switch's Joy-cons.
According to developers, you'll be able to choose from over 10 historical warplanes of Entente Powers and the Triple Alliance to pilot. On top of that, you can invite a friend and fly together with local multiplayer on split screen.
The cartoonish art style is a bit unusual for this type of game, but developers promise a unique mix of historic events and over-the-top, comic book-stylized adventures. Another interesting detail revealed by devs is that game events are combined with quotes from real letters from World War I pilots.
