There have been rumors running around that OnePlus 2 will pack a fingerprint scanner, but the Chinese company did not confirm the information until today.

However, instead of adding a fingerprint scanner just to hop on the “me too” bandwagon, OnePlus has decided to wait for the technology to mature, which is one the reasons smartphones of the Chinese company that did not pack one.

“With the OnePlus 2, the fingerprint sensor is done right. It’s refined and lightning quick, unlocking your device faster than TouchID,” claims the company in the blog post.

An efficient fingerprint sensor that won't take a few seconds to unlock the phone would be great, but it remains to be seen how fast OnePlus 2's scanner will be.

As OnePlus points out, an average person checks their phone more than 200 times per day, so imagine having to wait a few seconds for the phone to unlock like it usually happens when you need to enter a PIN number or a pattern.

Those seconds add up and may result in more than one hour of your time spent per week waiting for you handset to unlock.

Up to five fingerprint profiles can be stored

Well, OnePlus 2 promises to make it very easy to switch from the unlock directly to home screen. In addition, the Chinese company also confirmed that the fingerprint scanner will feature the ability to store up to five fingerprint profiles.

This is the third piece of information about OnePlus 2's specs that the Chinese company confirms in the last couple of weeks.

In previous statements, OnePlus announced that its next flagship smartphone will be equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset and USB Type C port.

Last but not least, OnePlus 2 has also been confirmed to be unveiled on July 27 during a VR streamed event.
