We've been recently asked on Twitter if LG plans to bring the Android 8 Oreo software update to its LG V20 smartphone, and now it's been officially confirmed by T-Mobile.

A couple of weeks ago, LG announced that it plans to bring Google's latest Android 8.1 Oreo software update to its LG V30 and LG G6 smartphones now that the search giant certified the devices for its Android Enterprise Recommended program. Users of older LG smartphones immediately started asking us around if the Android Oreo update will be available on their devices too.

According to The Android Soul, T-Mobile has confirmed the Android 8 Oreo update for several of LG's older smartphones, including the LG G5 and LG V20, along with the LG G6, LG V30 and LG V30+, which the South Korean tech giant already confirmed for this spring. However, the update has just recently entered its development stage at T-Mobile.

Android Oreo is coming this spring to LG G5, G6, V20, V30, and V30+

The good news we want to share with you today is that if you own an LG G5 or LG V20 smartphone on the T-Mobile network, you can rest assured that you'll get the Android 8 Oreo software update. When? We don't know yet, as T-Mobile hasn't given out any specific date of the upcoming OTA (Over-the-Air) firmware, but we expect it to arrive by the end of the spring.

Most probably, not all of LG's supported smartphones will get the Android Oreo update at the same time, as LG could first upgrade its newer models, including the LG G6, LG V30 and LG V30+, and then the older ones like LG G5 and LG V20. We'll make sure to let you guys know as soon as any of these devices are getting Google's latest Android Oreo update, so stay tuned!
