The additional time is to ensure the game is optimized

Developer Mighty Kingdom and publisher Funcom have just announced another delay for their quirky roguelite game Conan Chop Chop. We reported back in August that the game's launch was postponed until Q1 2020 to add online multiplayer.

However, it appears that Conan Chop Chop will miss the February 25 deadline. The new release date of the game is Q2 2020, which means the developer hasn't committed to a precise date yet. We'll probably learn more about that in the coming months if the development goes well.

As far as the reasons behind the decision, the folks at the Mighty Kingdom admitted they need more time to polish and optimize the online multiplayer aspect of the game.

We are almost at the finish line. The additional time is to ensure that the game is optimized for online multiplayer and to give us a chance to add some polish here and there. It’s basically all about getting that final Chop in place. This isn’t merely a one-chop game. This is Conan Chop Chop, and that necessitates extra attention to detail,” said Mighty Kingdom CEO Philip Mayes.

Conan Chop Chop will not be released on PC only, as developers plan to have it available on three other platforms at the same time: PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.

In Conan Chop Chop, players must stop an evil wizard from resurrecting an ancient dark power that will condemn the world to an eternity of darkness and enslavement. It can be played solo as an action rogue-lite, but it does offer online or couch co-op mode for up to four players.

Maps are completely random, which ensures infinite replayability. There will be tons of weapons and abilities to use, and while you'll probably die a lot, at least you'll be able to unlock new weapons, charms, and armor that will be available for your next try.

If you haven't done it already, you can wishlist the game on Steam, and we'll let you know when exactly Conan Chop Chop will actually be available to play.
