Sometimes, justice comes with a hidden side of evil

The first trailer for “Suicide Squad,” the David Ayer-directed movie set for release in the summer of 2016, screened at Comic-Con 2015 in San Diego, on the Warner Bros. panel on Sunday. Within hours, a low-quality version of it leaked online.

Warners has now released the official, high quality trailer for the wide audience, and… well, it’s pretty insane.

Suicide Squad is the name of a task force made up of the biggest villains in the DC Comics universe, brought together to fight crime under governmental orders. It functions on the premise that, sometimes, in order to bring bad guys to justice, you need a team made up of bad guys too - the worst, if possible.

Should anything go bad on their watch, authorities can wash their hands of the whole thing by making them into scapegoats.

The plan is perfect, in theory. This first trailer hints at bigger problems because of the unpredictable nature of the villains on the Squad, which should have been the first thing authorities considered.

“Suicide Squad” stars Will Smith, Jai Courtney, Cara Delevigne, Joel Kinnaman, Margot Robbie and Jared Leto. Robbie plays Harley Quinn, while Leto is The Joker, undoubtedly the 2 most unhinged guys in the group.

Ben Affleck’s Batman also makes a brief appearance in the trailer, while Henry Cavill’s Superman is namedropped. This way, “Suicide Squad” ties in perfectly with the 2013 film “Man of Steel” and the March 2016 release “Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice.”
