Quentin Tarantino’s much-hyped new film “The Hateful Eight” is scheduled for a limited release on Christmas 2015 (in 70mm format) before hitting theaters worldwide on January 8, but we’re yet to see a trailer for it. A preview for the film was screened at Comic-Con 2015 in San Diego over the weekend, but it did not make its way online.

But fans shouldn’t fret: a trailer is bound to debut soon and that’s just one of the things they should be looking forward to with this new project. Tarantino was on the panel at the convention and he confirmed that Ennio Morricone will be writing the original score for the film in full, SlashFilm reports.

This will be the first Tarantino film with an original OST (he usually uses classics, which receive a new spin with remixes) and Morricone’s first western score in 40 years. In short, this collaboration will be one for the history books.

The fact that Tarantino has used Morricone’s music before and was a declared fan only makes their collaboration all the more amazing.

“You guys know that I don’t use an original score in my movies, I kinda take scores from other movies and put ‘em in there. This one, I thought should have an original score. So I’m here to announce that the great Ennio Morricone will be doing the score for The Hateful Eight. He’s writing right now, and recording in Prague in the next couple of weeks,” Tarantino told fans gathered in Hall H at the convention.

The footage he screened for them was also set to Morricone’s music, but not to an original song.

“The Hateful Eight” stars Michael Madsen, Kurt Russell, Channing Tatum, Samuel L. Jackson, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Tim Roth and Demian Bechir, and tells the story of 8 bounty hunters trapped by a snow blizzard in a mountain hut.
