“Sherlock” from BBC One / PBS Masterpiece is one of the most critically acclaimed, fan-favorite shows, but it takes (what feels like) forever to make. In between Benedict Cumberbatch’s and Martin Freeman’s busy schedules, production times are longer because the series is basically a collection of feature films.

A fourth season will premiere in early 2016, but until then, fans will be getting a Christmas special that will be separate from the series, set in Victorian times. A teaser for it has been released at Comic-Con 2015 in San Diego.

“Sherlock” is no stranger to the convention even though it has nothing in common with comic books or superheroes. This year though the cast could not be there, so they came up with a hilarious message to screen before the teaser.

You can see both videos below.

What stands out from the cast’s message is Andrew Scott’s surprise Moriarty appearance at the end. Moriarty may have died on the show, as Scott makes sure to stress, but fans shouldn’t give up hope of seeing him again yet.

The trailer doesn’t offer too many hints as to the plot, but only seeing Sherlock and Dr. Watson together again makes the long wait worth it.

Enjoy!
