If CBS deliberately “leaked” the first episode of their upcoming “Supergirl” series earlier this year to drum up interest in it (that is, more than it was already getting), it paid off.

Comic-Con 2015 is now underway in San Diego, and the thousands of fans and members of the media in attendance were treated to an exclusive screening of the episode. Their reactions after the viewing, made public on social media, were mostly positive.

Trade publication Collider, for instance, gave it a “Very Good” review, while stressing that the story was on the cheesy side at times and that the plot could use a steadier pace. Overall though, it was a solid effort, one worthy of the hype it has been getting online.

You can see some samples of positive Twitter reactions from those at the screening below. Again, there weren’t only positive reactions, but the consensus seems to be that, based on the first episode, “Supergirl” is worth the long wait.

Telling the story of Kal-El / Superman’s cousin, Kara (Melissa Benoist), “Supergirl” is a series about girl power and female empowerment, in a context in which most superhero productions, both on the big and the small screen, only have male leads.

This also explains the interest in it, as also the desire for it to be done right. “Supergirl” will premiere on October 26.
