Bryan Cranston may have played one of the most dangerous criminals on the now-defunct AMC series “Breaking Bad,” but he’s known for being a world-class prankster. The jokester in him came out to play at Comic-Con 2015 in San Diego, over the weekend.

Video of the exchange between him and a very nervous fan went viral, and is sitting at over 4.1 million views. While the views keep on piling up, the debate on whether Cranston was a jerk to the fan is picking up speed.

So here’s what happened: during a Q&A last week, a young and very nervous fan asked the actor how he liked filming in Albuquerque because that was his hometown. Did he take a fancy to any particular place, did he like the town?

Cranston’s reply was of the kind that goes perfectly with a mic drop, which he actually did. It was obviously a joke and the audience roared with laughter, even though the fan can be heard saying “Oh, wow, that was a bit mean.”

That last part has made many assume that Cranston was just being rude and mean to the fan for no reason, when all he’d done was ask a polite question, albeit nervously. Then again, a true Bryan Cranston fan knows that this is exactly the kind of jokes he favors, which helps him erase the boundary between himself the celebrity and his fans, the regular people.
