14 DAY TRIAL // Great news for competitive players who love strategy games, as Merge Games and Pineleaf Studio have just announced their upcoming title DwarfHeim, a co-op multiplayer real-time strategy game with a twist.
As you can imagine, DwarfHeim is all about dwarves, as players must build, manage and defend a Dwarven city against the constant threat of feral trolls and rivaling dwarven clans. DwarfHeim offers both co-operative and competitive gameplay modes as up to 4 players can clash in strategic battles across various maps.
According to developer Pineleaf Studio, DwarfHeim is the first real-time strategy game of its kind that features co-op multiplayer gameplay where you and your team must work together using different classes and abilities to gather resources, defend your city and expand.
“When we grew up, we loved playing RTS-games, but in recent years the focus has shifted to games we can play with our friends. So at Pineleaf, we wanted to create a REAL co-operational multiplayer RTS. An RTS that you can play with your friends, and that is DwarfHeim,” said Hans-Andreas Kleven, CEO of Pineleaf.
DwarfHeim will feature 4 unique classes at launch: Builder, Miner, Warrior, and Diplomat. The single-player experience comes in the form of a sandbox mode, where players can explore a vast, open area.
There's also a survival mode where players can test their strategies and strength with up to 3 friends or strangers and try to outlive all of the troll waves coming their way. Since this is a competitive game as well, ranked matchmaking is one of its core aspects. Players will be able to rank up by winning competitive matches and face players that match their skill level.
Last but not least, developers will offer those who buy the game a friend-pass that can be used to invite friends along to play on a free downloadable client of DwarfHeim, even if they haven’t purchased the game. DwarfHeim is set for release on PC via Steam sometime this fall.
