14 DAY TRIAL // There has been an unusual high number of free-to-play shooters announced and released in the last couple of years, so here is another one. The First Descendant is a coop action RPG shooter coming from NEXON, a company known for literally many dozens of mobile games.
Previously revealed under its codename “Project Magnum” in an official Sony trailer, The First Descendant promises high-quality visuals built in Unreal Engine 5, strategic boss fights with 4-player tactics, and much more. Earlier this week, NEXON released a brand-new teaser trailer for the game, which shows some fresh gameplay.
As the name suggests, you play as a Descendant with mysterious inherited powers and fight to protect humanity against alien invaders. After clearing missions and defeating bosses, players can unlock powerful new characters, equipment, and upgrades.
Each character has distinctive concepts and battle styles, as well as customizable elements to allow players to support character decoration. As far as the combat goes, players will be able to make use of multiple skills and unique weapons. Chain actions through grappling hooks, colorful firearms, and additional effects are a big part of the game formula too.
Characters can have up to 3 guns equipped, 4 pieces of secondary equipment, and various sub-weapons. Obviously, you’ll be able to use and change the equipment based on the types of battles encountered. Apparently, new equipment develops character growth by combining various pieces, enhancing character and firearm stats, or adding a new ability.
The First Descendant doesn’t have a release date yet, but we do know it’s currently in development for PC (via Steam), PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
