The development team at Boss Key Productions, which is led by one of the main developers of the Gears of War franchise, Cliff Bleszinski, is announcing that its upcoming LawBreakers video game is no longer using a free-to-play business model and that a new art style is being introduced to help the experience stand out.

At the Game Developers Conference, the company explains that it will deliver its coming experience as a premium digital title and that it will first be offered only on the Steam distribution platform, although it might be introduced to others after that.

Cliff Bleszinski has not mentioned an actual price, but he says that he expects it to be lower than 60 dollars or Euro.

He states, "As the game continued to take shape, we realized free-to-play wasn't the right fit for what we're building. LawBreakers is a competitive game at heart and that means balance is a big priority to me, my team, and our community. Using a digital premium model helps ensure an even playing field by giving fans access to every available role without any barriers."

The new visual style is described as being more mature, and it seems that the choice to introduce it was made to separate LawBreakers from other experiences that target the same competitive segment, like Overwatch from Blizzard.

The title also reveals minimum and recommended system requirements

The key words that Cliff Bleszinski uses to describe his new game are verticality, violence, intensity and competition and LawBreakers should be out during the summer of this year although no exact date has been mentioned.

Those who are looking to play should have a 64-bit version of the Windows 7, Windows 8 or Windows 10 operating systems.

The minimum system requirements include an Intel Core 2 Due E6600 processor or better, 5 GB of RAM, at least, an Nvidia 460 graphics card with 1 GB of memory and 12 GB of free hard drive space.

For optimum performance, LawBreakers requires an Intel Core i7-4790 with 16 GB of RAM and, at least, an Nvidia GTX 970.

Boss Key Productions has not offered any information about a possible beta testing period for the game, and there are no details about how the developers are planning to keep offering new content to those who pick up the shooter.

The game's core mechanics are centered around gravity and gamers will be able to use a variety of characters that have unique ways to approach tactical challenges.
