14 DAY TRIAL // Slitherine’s highly anticipated real-time strategy game Starship Troopers – Terran Command finally has a release date, and it’s closer than we originally thought. The UK-based publisher has just announced the classic RTS is scheduled for release on PC (via Steam) on June 16, so in just a few days from now.
Advertised as “the most ambitious take on the science fiction series yet,” the game promises intense real-time strategy action, and an immersive storyline campaign featuring unique missions, characters and a lot of Starship Troopers flavors.
Newcomers to the series will probably be overwhelmed by the huge amount of bugs on the screen, but that’s what movies look like too. The Arachnid threat is very real in the Starship Troopers universe, so your only chance will be to move fast, take control of key points and try to smash everything that stands in your way.
Although the Arachnids can rely on virtually limitless numbers, the Mobile Infantry that you control has a few aces up its sleeve too. Just make sure that you develop effective tactics to overcome the imbalance that the series throws at you. For example, you’ll have to carefully deploy your units in strategic locations to cover vital choke points and gain superior firepower through tactical use of elevation levels.
Starship Troopers – Terran Command features an expansive range of unique units, weapons, and special abilities that remain faithful to the sci-fi series. If you’re into games where you can’t be superior through sheer number, then Slitherine’s upcoming sci-fi RTS will surely appease your taste.
The game truly requires players to think strategically, build, develop and control their armies to strike an effective balance between tactical superiority and strength in numbers. Just make sure you don’t suffer from entomophobia because you’ll be squishing lots of bugs in this game.
