Humankind, the Civilization-like 4x strategy game developed by Amplitude Studios and published by SEGA, will be available on PC day one with Xbox Game Pass. Whether you’re paying for Xbox Game Pass for PC or Ultimate, you’ll be able to play Humankind for free when the game released on August 17.

Those who don’t pay for Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass subscription service will be able to pick up the game on PC via Steam and Google Stadia. Unfortunately, the Mac version of Humankind has been postponed, but the good news is developers announced that it will not be delayed for more than a few weeks.

In Humankind, players can create their own civilization by combining up to 60 historical cultures and lead their people from the Ancient to the Modern Age. The game invites players to experience historical events, take meaningful moral decisions, and make scientific breakthroughs.

Humankind offers multiple ways to win a game, including fame, a new and unifying victory condition. As far as combat goes, each battle in Humankind plays out like a mini turn-based board game on top of the actual world map. Players can unstack and micro-manage their armies and command each unit, including iconic units of their culture and their special abilities.

But wait, there’s more! In Humankind, players can create and customize their own avatar, which will evolve visually over the course of the game as their civilization develops. Moreover, players can level up their leader via a meta-progression system to unlock custom looks that can be shown off in multiplayer matches.

Speaking of multiplayer, developer Amplitude Studios confirmed that players will be able to fight each other in matches of up to 8 players. But first, you’ll have to answer a very important question: how far will you be able to push Humankind?
