Video game developer Larian Studios has already generated a lot of hype with its announcement that it was working on Divinity: Original Sin II and now even more role-playing fans will be interested in the experience after the announcement that Chris Avellone will be involved in the development process.

The legendary game maker has worked on a number of classic titles in the field like Planescape Torment, Icewind Dale, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II, Fallout 2 and, more recently, Pillars of Eternity with Obsidian.

Chris Avelloneis was quoted as saying that, "I have a lot of respect for Larian Studios, Swen, and Divinity: Original Sin II. It's one of the best game Kickstarters ever. I met Swen at PAX Prime, talked about RPGs for hours, and at the end, it was clear we were on the same page. Now? We're primed to do something great, and I'm proud to be part of it."

Swen Vincke, the creative director working on Divinity: Original Sin II, says that the new addition to the development team will work to improve both narrative and characters, two of the most important elements of the game.

Larian Studios aims to keep the community involved in the development process

The company chose to use Kickstarter funding in order to see how the players react to the initial concepts for the game and to make sure that they stay involved in the creation process in the long-term.

Divinity: Original Sin II will have four characters, for which race and characteristics can be chosen, to go up against Bishop Alexander after he seeks to make all magic illegal.

Larian Studios wants to improve the cooperative gameplay mechanics, allowing each party of players to both work together to accomplish objectives and to betray themselves when the potential gains are worth it.

Divinity: Original Sin II is set to be launched in 2016 and will presumably be first offered on the PC.

A special version of the first title in the series is also set to arrive on the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One, with a special set of controls and a user interface designed to encourage cooperative play.
