This past Wednesday, the body of an 8-month-old baby boy was discovered in an SUV parked next to a Walmart store in the city of Macedonia in Ohio.

The child was discovered by his grandmother, a Walmart employee who found him when her daughter called her and told her to search the car for the boy.

It was the child's father who forgot he was in the car

Law enforcement officers investigating the child's death say that, early Wednesday morning, his father was supposed to drive the boy and his three siblings to a local day care center.

For some reason, the man only dropped off three of the kids. Apparently, he forgot all about the 8-month-old boy in the back seat.

After his visit to the day care center, he returned home at about 8 a.m., and hours later, at about 11 a.m., the boy's grandmother took the SUV to drive to work. She too failed to notice the child left in the back seat of the car.

Then, at noon, when the baby's siblings were brought home from the day care center, the mother realized the youngest was not with them.

She called the grandmother, who rushed to the parking lot to search the SUV. By then, however, it was too late. When the woman found the 8-month-old child, he was unresponsive.

The child's death was an accident, authorities say

There is no evidence that the father, the mother or the grandmother wanted to harm the child in any way, DM reports. Hence, authorities ruled the baby boy's death an accident.

The child's body is now in custody of the Summit County Medical Examiner. An autopsy is expected to establish the exact cause of death. For now, it is unclear whether the family faces negligence charges.

It is estimated that, from the time his father forgot about him until his grandmother found him, the child spent about 10 hours straight locked in the SUV.
