14 DAY TRIAL // Apple’s new more affordable iPhone will see daylight in September without some key features, but instead, the device would boast exclusive options that you wouldn’t find on a different iPhone model.
For example, the Cupertino-based tech firm wants this cheaper iPhone to be offered in five different colors, according to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo cited by 9to5mac.
This means the device could hit the market in gray, white, blue, red, and orange, which in turn proves that Apple could embrace an approach that the company previously used on the iPhone 5c.
However, there are several questions that need to be answered. As the cited source mentions, there’s a chance that the gray and white versions in this report are actually the Space Grey and Silver finishes that Apple already offers on the iPhone X, whereas the red version is the PRODUCT(RED) special edition that Apple launches for every new iPhone generation.
This means the only blue colors in Apple’s lineup could be blue and orange, and the latter could be another interpretation of the gold finish that already exists on some iPhones.
Public launch in September
On the other hand, this new LCD iPhone coming with a 6.1-inch display may not come with 3D Touch and a dual-camera system, instead sticking with a single lens. Furthermore, it’s believed that Apple would make the same aesthetic changes as on the iPhone X, giving up on bezels for an edge-to-edge panel with a notch at the top.
The home button would thus be ditched in favor of Face ID facial recognition. No wireless charging would be offered in order to keep the price down, and fast charging is very unlikely.
Pricing of this new model could be around $700, so while it’s supposed to be more affordable, it won’t be a low-cost model. Apple will take the wraps off this device in September alongside the revised iPhone X and the brand-new iPhone X Plus.
