US-based handset maker BLU Products has just announced the upcoming availability of two new mid-range Android smartphones.

The new BLU Vivo 5 and Vivo XL will be available for purchase in the United States in the coming weeks. The first to hit shelves in January is BLU Vivo XL, which will cost $150 outright. BLU Vivo 5 will be launched some time in February for $200.

Although their prices are in the mid-range, both Vivo smartphones feature metal bodies to give them a premium feel.

Specs-wise, they are more than decent for the price. For example, both Vivo smartphones have 5.5-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen displays that support HD (720p) resolution.

Also, they are powered by 1.3GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6753 processors paired with Mali-720 graphics processing units. BLU's mid-range smartphones drain energy from 3,150 mAh battery that feature MediaTek's fast charging technology.

At the back, Vivo 5 and Vivo XL pack 13-megapixel cameras with autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording, whereas in the front the smartphones come with 5-megapixel selfie cameras.

They will receive Android 6. Marshmallow updates after release

Regarding memory, the Vivo 5 is the better smartphone since it comes with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage. On the other hand, BLU Vivo XL features only 2GB RAM and 16GB of internal memory.

Even though both Vivo smartphones ship with Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box, BLU confirmed that they would receive Android 6.0 Marshmallow updates soon after release.

“The Vivo 5 and Vivo XL are the most advanced and stunning smartphones that BLU has ever launched in this price range. Our devices utilize a powerful yet efficient 8-core 64 Bit processor by MediaTek, in addition to a beautiful and vivid SUPER AMOLED display for a user experience that is far superior to its competitors.

“However, the highlight is unquestionably the innovative and unique design, including our first ever full metal body design,” said Samuel Ohev-Zion, CEO of BLU Products.
