CD Projekt's The Witcher 3 has already been awarded Game of the Year at one of the most prestigious video games competition, The Game Awards, over the weekend.

In fact, the game received three awards, not to mention that it's been picked as the best RPG of 2015 by many online publications.

The Witcher 3 completes Geralt's saga in the universe created by the Polish developer, but that doesn't mean the franchise should end, especially that it's now supported by millions of fans all over the world.

And that's how CD Projekt is thinking as well. Through the voice of CD Projekt's CEO Adam Kicinski, the Polish developer assured fans that The Witcher 3 won't be the end of the franchise, even though Geralt's days are over.

According to a report from Game Pressure, during an interview for Polish TV station TBN24 BiS, Kicinski said that “it's too early to talk about it, but it's not like we're forgetting about this brand – that's understandable. (...) It wouldn't be fair towards the fans. We work within this universe for over a dozen years now and I don't think it's going to be the end of it.”

That being said, we wouldn't mind another Witcher game, even without Geralt, but we're pretty sure that we will have to wait for quite a long time for a sequel.

The Polish dev is now turning its full attention to Cyberpunk 2077

CD Projekt is now focusing on its next big IP, Cyberpunk 2077, which proves to be a bigger challenge for the Polish developer than it previously expected.

“The project is even more ambitious than we first planned (...) we need to create a game that will be even more successful. (...) We have a long way ahead of us to reach the biggest commercial successes in the world.

“Sure, many people consider The Witcher 3 to be the best game in the world this year, but this is not a game that broke any sales record,” added Kicinski.

In the meantime, fans of the franchise will be pleased to know that CD Projekt has another major expansion for The Witcher 3, Blood and Wine, which will be released next year.
