14 DAY TRIAL // A limited edition Casio smartwatch based on then excellent Pro Trek WSD-F20 is being released this summer, and only 700 will be made.
It looks like this new Limited Edition fashion for smartwatches might be catching on, and Casio is following suit with a new model based on WSD-F20 that should make fans really happy. Although, since it’s a limited edition, only 700 will be built.
To be fair, the Casio WSD-F20 was an already excellent watch, based on Wear OS, which featured terrific battery life, great design, and a ton of cool features. All of that is being made available in the version, but even more is offered.
Still based on Wear OS
The latest Casio Pro Trek WSD-F20SC-BK will continue to use Wear OS 2.0 (former Android Wear), and it will come with a sapphire crystal display. Also, GPS with offline color maps has been integrated as well.
The display remains the same, a 1.32-inch dual layer Color TFT LCD and monochrome LCD, with a resolution of 320 × 300 pixels. The monochrome display will be handy when the color display is turned off to preserve battery life.
Also, the watch has water resistance to up to 50 meters (about 160 feet), low-temperature resistance (-10℃), and a ton of sensors including Pressure (air pressure, altitude) sensor, accelerometer, and gyrometer compass (magnetic) sensor.
One of the great features is the extended battery life, which varies depending on the GPS. With GPS and color display, users should expect around 18 hours and about two days with the color display set to Off.
On the other hand, with the color display set to off, with no GPS, and in Timepiece Mode, it’s possible to get more than a month of battery life.
There is no precise launch date for Casio WSD-F20SC-BK, and you can’t preorder it just yet, but it should be available in select territories in late June.
