Carmageddon: Reincarnation is a game developed by the same team that made the first title all the way back in 1997. They have already released the game on Windows, and they plan to make it available for Linux users as well.

More than two decades ago, Carmageddon was all the rage. It's been a generator of controversy right from the start. What if people will drive their cards like in the game and kill people, leaving behind bloody skidmarks? Well, none of that actually happened, but the game remains in the public consciousness.

When the guys from Stainless Games decided to do a follow-up / remake of the original title, everyone was thrilled. Nothing like that has been done since, and no one really had the courage to try anything similar. There have been plenty of racing games, but no other achieved the same kind of fame.

Carmageddon: Reincarnation will arrive on Linux

The developers of this great game went to Kickstarter, and they raised enough money to make it happen. One of the goals was to have Linux support, and it looks like they haven't abandoned it.

“We are continuing to work on improvements in a number of key areas, including the long-awaited faster level loading times and further significant performance improvements. So, we’ll continue to roll out updates over the course of the coming months, and more details of dates and what to expect will follow. We will also have updated news on the scheduling of the Mac & Linux versions of Carmageddon: Reincarnation,” noted the developers in an update.

There is no information about a launch date, and we don't know just how advanced the Linux port is, but the fact that it's still under development is good news. For now, the team is still fixing the games for Windows users, so don't expect it to land anytime soon.
