Richard Madden, best known to fans as the handsome and ill-fated Robb Stark from HBO’s “Game of Thrones,” but also as Prince Charming in Disney’s live-action “Cinderella,” believes that actors who act out during press tours are unprofessional and have no place in the industry.
One such actor is model Cara Delevingne, who made headlines this summer because, during a very awkward interview promoting her big screen debut “Paper Towns,” she acted in such a manner that the reporters felt they had to cut off the satellite transmission because there was no reasoning with her.
You can see the painfully awkward exchange in the video below. Cara doesn’t think Madden, or anyone else for that matter, has any right to criticize her.
“Unprofessional” behavior and a new celebrity feud
The other day, Madden sat down for a chat with Style Magazine and discussed the issue of some actors lashing out at or being rude to reporters during press tours. These events are usually grueling, in that actors and directors have to sit through hours upon hours of interviews, during which they’re mostly asked the same questions.
That’s not an excuse to be rude, though, Madden said, singling out Delevingne, whom he labeled “unprofessional.”
“It made her seem ungrateful. She showed her age. For ‘Cinderella,” I did six weeks of those interviews, where you get asked the same eight questions. If you’re not capable of doing that gracefully, then don’t do it,” Madden added.
For the record, Cara had explained her awkward interview by saying some people, i.e. the reporters in question, simply didn’t get her British sense of humor and sarcasm. She wasn’t tired or sick of it, she was just being herself.
So naturally, she didn’t take Madden’s comment lightly. In fact, she lashed out at him on Twitter and she did so by first pulling the “I don’t know who you are” card.
Obviously, not everyone can be a GoT or Disney fan, but saying this line usually means the celebrity uttering it is implying they’re more famous than the person they’re saying it to.
A feud over but not forgotten
As you can see from the tweets below, all is good again between the two: Madden sort-of apologized by saying his words had been taken out of context, and she responded with an “I should have imagined” and a virtual kiss.
Even assuming they’re both honest in their apologies and kind words to the other, the feud is not over because many users in the Twitterverse will not let Cara off as easily as Madden did.
They believe that Cara confirmed his words when she reacted the way she did on Twitter; instead of pulling the “I’m more famous than you so shut up and stop trying to ride my coattails” card, she should have reached out to him before blasting him publicly, to check if the comment attributed to him was accurate.
After all, it’s not like Madden is known for his love of starting feuds out of nowhere. By not doing this, she unfortunately confirmed what he was saying: she’s young and she doesn’t know how to play nice with the others, and perhaps she is not ready yet to be working in the film industry.
@_richardmadden I have no idea who you are but I think it's little desperate for a grown man to be bad mouthing someone they don't know

@_richardmadden if you really want attention that badly, try focusing on your own work and not other people's

Hi @Caradelevingne, nothing but respect for you. Misquoted and blown out of proportion. #SlowNewsWeek
