Google announced the premium Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones last fall, but it seems that some carriers are planning to discontinue at least one model in the near future. Canadian carriers Rogers and Fido intend to discontinue the 128GB Google Pixel XL.

According to a recent report, Canadian carriers Rogers and Fido intend to discontinue the 128GB Google Pixel XL in Really Blue, Really Silver and Quite Black variants, which means that the stock won’t be replenished for the two models.

The Really Blue color variant will be the only one available at Rogers, while inventory for Really Silver and Quite Black models won’t be restocked. Fido is currently selling both the silver and blue 128GB Pixel XL, while the Really Blue variant isn’t available. The two Canadian carriers have yet to officially confirm their decision to discontinue the 128GB Pixel XL phone.

The smartphones are still available for purchase online and in brick-and-mortar stores, but more units won’t arrive at the two carriers. It’s likely that the Pixel will also be discontinued in the near future, as Google prepares to launch successors in the next few months.

New Pixel smartphones are in the workss

Still, Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones should sell at least until late summer, while new flagships will debut this fall. One reason why Rogers and Fido decided to give up on the 128GB Pixel XL phone is related to insufficient stock.

Customers in the US and other countries have tested their patience after ordering Google’s Pixel phones, as some units recorded shipment delays of two weeks. Verizon decided to offer customers free Google Daydream VR headsets to make up for delayed Pixel and Pixel XL shipments.

As far as we could gather, Google is working on two Pixel smartphones codenamed Muskie and Walleye, both in the premium range and one being larger than the other. Google is also rumored to remove the 3.5mm headphone jack on the upcoming Pixel phones.
