In a surprising turn of events, Kodak, the company known for its cameras, announced a brand new smartphone several weeks ago, the Ektra. As expected, this is a camera-focused smartphone that won't come cheap at all.

Since we already know everything there is to know about the Kodak Ektra, let's take a look at price and availability info before going into more details on the phone's specs.

According to AndroidAuthority, the Kodak Ektra will go on sale in Germany starting December 9 for no less than €499 outright. The smartphone will only be available at major retailers across the country, including Amazon, MediaMarkt, Saturn, Ringfot and Kodak's own online store.

However, it's worth mentioning that beginning January 16, 2017, the Kodak Ektra will be available for purchase at major carrier Telekom. We also expect the phone to go live in other countries as well, like the UK where the phone will be available for £450.

Moving on to actual specs, the camera-centric Kodak Ektra sports a 5-inch display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution.

It doesn't come with Android 7.0 Nougat on board, but Kodak added Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, so let's hope for a future update.

When it comes to hardware, the Ektra is a pretty decent device thanks to a 2.3GHz deca-core Helio X20 processor, coupled with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory (expandable via microSD card).

Now, the juicy part: the camera. Kodak Ektra boasts a 21-megapixel camera with f/2.0 aperture and OIS (optical image stabilization). Also, the main camera features PDAF (phase detection autofocus), dual-tone, dual-LED flash, as well as 4K video recording.

There's also a no less impressive 13-megapixel camera in the front for state-of-the-art selfies. Last but not least, the Ektra is powered by a 3,000 mAh battery with fast charging.
